About Michael

Michael Liptrot earned a B.A. in Law & Society from American University in 2010 and a J.D. from Brooklyn Law School in 2013. His academic trail mixed social science and legal background and laid the groundwork for a practice that spans state and federal courts within the New York region.

He started his professional legal career as an associate on the Law Offices of Candi J. Fulop in 2014. That position gave him early court exposure and knowledge handling client things day to day. In 2017 he moved right into a supervisory role at Gorlick, Kravitz & Listhaus, PC, where he oversaw other attorneys and managed large caseloads.

In 2022 Liptrot joined Tully Rinckey PLLC as senior counsel. The title displays a development from front-line case dealing with to a position that mixes case strategy, file oversight, and mentoring junior lawyers. He is admitted to practice in New York and New Jersey and holds admission to the U.S. District Court for each the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York.

Liptrot finished a divorce mediation certification thru the Center for Mediation & Training. He is also a member of the New York State Bar Association, the American Bar Association, and the New York State Council on Divorce Mediation. In 2015 he volunteered as a lawyer with the Bronx Housing Court Resource Center, an experience that brought him into direct touch with housing and tenant matters at the network degree.

Throughout his profession Liptrot has treated matters that touch on household law and dispute resolution, and he has combined legal proceedings work with mediated resolutions. His federal admissions allow him to convey sure matters into the district courts, while his facilitated negotiation training informs efforts to resolve disputes outside of trial.

Colleagues describe him as steady within the court and thorough in preparation. He has moved steadily from affiliate to supervisory roles and now to a senior counsel role, carrying duty for complicated files and for advising much less skilled lawyers. He maintains memberships in professional organizations that align with his mediation and family regulation interests.

He presently practices at Tully Rinckey PLLC, holding admissions in New York and New Jersey and in the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York. His practice facilities on family regulation matters and divorce mediation.
