About Scott C.
Scott C. Cox has practiced law for more than three decades. He started his academic path in enterprise, earning a B.A. from the University of Kentucky in 1981, and completed his J.D. on the University of Louisville in 1985. Those years set the inspiration for a career spent largely in courtrooms and appellate halls.
He was admitted to the Kentucky bar in 1985 and soon moved into public service. In 1987 he served as an Assistant U.S. Lawyer on the United States Lawyer s Office. That early federal knowledge gave him direct publicity to government legal proceedings and trial practice at a time when federal felony and civil caseloads were shifting.
By 1994 he had shifted to private practice and became a companion at Cox & Mazzoli, PLLC. He has represented clients in each state and federal courts. His practice spans things that attain the Sixth Circuit and the Federal Circuit, reflecting a mixture of trial and appellate work. He has seemed in federal hearings and handled cases on appeal, bringing a court-first approach to complex disputes.
His friends have acknowledged his trial work. He was elected a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers in 2011. He is an extended-standing member of felony defense organizations, which includes the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the Kentucky Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the place his membership is listed as lifetime and dates back to 1987. He also belongs to the Kentucky Academy of Justice and keeps active participation in the Kentucky Bar Association and the Louisville Bar Association, where he has served on the board of directors. His involvement with the Federal Bar Association goes back to 1985 and includes a beyond presidency.
Colleagues describe him as skilled in dealing with both the give-and-take of trial work and the careful craft of appellate briefs. He has balanced public-sector and personal practice roles across his profession, moving between prosecutorial duties and protection work. Today he practices at Cox & Mazzoli, PLLC, the place his work continues to include felony protection and federal appellate things. His current practice makes a speciality of trial and appellate representation in state and federal courts.
