Randy R Babi finished his undergraduate studies at Wayne State University, earning a B.A. in political science in 2009. He went on to the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law and acquired his J.D. in 2012. During law school he studied felony justice, trial practice, counseling and bargaining, areas that have persisted to shape his work.
His early legal background came interior Detroit's trial courts. In 2010 he served as an extern to Judges Bruce Morrow and Annette Berry within the third Circuit Court of Wayne County. The following year he worked in the University of Detroit Mercy Criminal Clinic, acting as a public defender within the thirty fifth District Court overlaying Plymouth, Canton and Northville. Those experiences exposed him to courtroom procedure and client representation under pressure.
After law program he took a different flip for a time. In 2014 he labored on IT contracts and open supply software matters for Ford Motor Company.
