About Jonathan

Jonathan Corchnoy graduated from Allegheny College in 1978 with a B.S. in economics and earned his J.D. from American University Washington College of Law in 1981. The trajectory of his early career observed the familiar trail of federal clerkships and small company practice. He spent two summers in federal businesses, clerking for the Federal Trade Commission’s Bureau of Competition in 1979 and for the U.S. Department of Justice Tax Division in 1980, before moving into law workplace practice following law school.

His first postlaw-school role was in 1981 on the office of the Honorable David Cohen, who served as a councilman-at-large in Philadelphia. That knowledge ended in next roles in private practice, which includes work on the Law Office of Jerome Taylor in 1985. He began serving as a Court of Common Pleas arbitrator in Philadelphia in 1982, a position he has maintained along different practice responsibilities. In 2002 he opened his own firm, Law Offices of Jonathan S. Corchnoy, and in 2008 he took on a federal arbitrator appointment for the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.

Corchnoy’s admissions span multiple jurisdictions. He is admitted in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, holds admission to practice before the Third Circuit, and is licensed in Florida. Over the years he has moved among state and federal work and among trial and administrative matters. His membership list reflects sustained involvement in legal circles: Philadelphia Bar Association since 1981, Pennsylvania State Bar work on an Exceptional Children’s Committee starting in 2002, the New Jersey State Bar’s School Law Committee starting in 2008, and club in the Council of Parent Attorneys and Advocates (COPAA) from 2009 onward. He also holds club in the Florida Bar starting in 2015.

His practice balances arbitration, administrative advocacy and counsel to families and institutions in schooling-associated matters. He has treated disputes that occur in faculty settings and things concerning unique schooling, and he appears in each local courts and applicable administrative boards. He keeps workplaces in Philadelphia and in Florida, running through his named regulation company.

After extra than four decades in the law, Corchnoy continues to simply accept things that touch on schooling, arbitration and related civil practice, and he practices primarily thru the Law Offices of Jonathan S. Corchnoy.
