About John E.

John E. Cutler constructed a legal foundation at Brigham Young University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting in 1986 and went on to obtain his law degree from the J. Reuben Clark Law School in 1989. He began his expert education right now following law school, serving as a law clerk to Chief Bankruptcy Judge Robert G. Mooreman at the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Arizona in 1989. That early exposure to federal bankruptcy proceedings shaped his strategy to courtroom process and legal studies.

In 1991 Cutler moved into public service as a deputy prosecuting attorney in Bonneville County, Idaho. The courtroom work there gave him front-line experience in criminal practice and litigation preparation. He later joined the personal firm Cooper Wetzel Avery & Lee in 1995, expanding his civil and felony practice in a firm setting and taking over extra complicated litigation matters.

Cutler opened Cutler Law Office, P.A., in 2003. He has run the company since then, representing clients in state and federal things. He is admitted to practice in Idaho and in the Ninth Circuit. Over the years he has handled a mix of criminal protection work and related trial things, bringing his courtroom experience from public prosecution and personal practice to defense work.

His training consists of several National Highway Traffic Safety Administration guides through La Pier & Associates: the Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement (ARIDE) software, the Standardized Field Sobriety Testing and DUI Detection Instructor direction, and the Standardized Field Sobriety Testing and DUI Detection scholar course. Those certifications underpin a significant portion of his casework, particularly in DUI defense, where technical proof and officer procedures are frequently central.

Cutler is active in professional circles. He has been a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers since 2003 and joined the National Trial Lawyers in 2017. He has been a member of the Idaho Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers since 2001. He joined the National College of DUI Defense in 2008 and has served as a state delegate for that organization since 2018. He is a founding partner of the DUI Defense Lawyers Association, serving there since 2014. His practice at Cutler Law Office, P.A. concentrates on DUI defense and criminal instances.
