About Gerard
Gerard Miles constructed a continuous professional legal career from classroom to courtroom. He completed undergraduate studies at Loyola College in 1975 and acquired his J.D. from the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law in 1978. Those early educational years set the groundwork for a long practice in Maryland courts.
He entered private practice within the early Nineteen Eighties. In 1982 he labored as an associate at Baker and Baker, P.A. That same year he joined Lerch & Huesman as an attorney. Four years later he have become a companion at Huesman, Jones & Miles, LLC, a role he assumed in 1986. The move to partnership marked a brand new phase, with higher duty for case strategy and client representation.
Miles is admitted to practice in Maryland, earlier than the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. He has handled matters that required appearances in both federal and state forums. His court work consists of civil legal proceedings and trial practice, and he has experience managing instances thru discovery, motion practice and trial.
Beyond legal proceedings, Miles has kept a presence in legal community institutions. He serves on the Lawyer Grievance Commission’s Peer Review Committee, reviewing things that touch on professional behavior. He volunteers with Maryland Volunteer Lawyers Service, providing pro bono help to clients who cannot afford counsel. He also contributes to law school training by judging rounds at the University of Maryland’s East Regional Mock Trial Tournament.
Colleagues describe him as methodical in preparation and continuous beneath pressure. He has taken on roles that require both detailed legal evaluation and hands-on court advocacy. Over the many years he has handled a range of civil disputes and guided younger attorneys in casework and trial tactics.
Miles practices from offices in Hunt Valley and Pikesville. He maintains a caseload that centers on civil litigation and trial things, operating in state and federal courts across the region.
