About Gerald W.

Gerald W. Sousa began his educational adventure at Boston University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts. He went on to receive his law degree from New England School of Law. Those formative years set the stage for a long profession in legal proceedings and court practice across Massachusetts and the federal device.

After law school, Sousa entered personal practice and, in 1983, helped establish the Law Offices of Sousa & Sousa. He has served as a founding partner since that year. Over many years in practice he has treated cases at multiple ranges of the judiciary. He is admitted to the Massachusetts bar. He is likewise admitted to the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit, which has allowed him to pursue both trial and appellate work.

The arc of Sousa’s career is continuous instead of flashy. He constructed a tradition that spans trial work and appeals and that draws on trial experience developed over many years. Colleagues describe him as a person who prefers direct engagement in courtrooms and conferences.
