About Ethan

Ethan White constructed his legal foundations in two Midwestern universities. He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Information Systems and Finance from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, completing the diploma in 2000 after beginning studies in 1996. He later returned to school and acquired his J.D. from Northwestern University School of Law in 2008.

Straight out of law school he joined the federal courthouse. In 2008 he served as a judicial law clerk to a judge of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan. That year in chambers gave him an early immersion in federal process, opinion writing and court practice.

He moved into private practice as an associate at Mayer Brown in 2010. The large-firm environment exposed him to complex litigation and multi-party matters. In 2013 he have become a partner at LeonardMeyer LLP, a step that broadened his responsibilities to include case strategy, client counseling and mentoring younger lawyers. In the identical year he returned to Northwestern as an adjunct professor, teaching trial advocacy. The direction allowed him to translate court tactics into classroom drills and to work directly with law college students preparing for trial work.

In 2018 he took on a management role as managing partner at Emery Law, Ltd. His tenure there has involved overseeing company operations while persevering with an active caseload. He remains a member of the State Bar of Illinois and holds memberships in the Illinois State Bar Association and the DuPage County Bar Association. Those affiliations place him in ordinary contact with colleagues throughout the state and provide forums for ongoing legal training and expert dialogue.

His background combines time at the bench, years in giant-company legal proceedings and leadership in a regional firm. That mix informs how he approaches disputes: awareness to procedural detail, an emphasis on litigation preparation and an attempt to fit court tactics to client dreams. Outside of the court and study room, he has supervised teams dealing with discovery and pretrial motions and has been responsible for training packages for affiliates. He practices in Illinois and maintains an active role at Emery Law, Ltd. His current practice facilities on civil litigation and trial work.
