Elliot S. Schlissel studied political science on the State University of New York at Oswego and earned his law degree from SUNY Buffalo Law School in 1975. He completed his formal education within the early Nineteen Seventies and moved quickly into private practice. The path from university to court was short and continuous, and it set the tone for an extended professional legal career.

In 1978 he opened the Law Office of Elliot S. Schlissel. That decision created a base for court work, client counseling and network involvement. He served as president of the Commercial Lawyers Conference of New York from 1982 to 1983, a position that placed him within the middle of the state’s business law conversations on the time. He additionally holds memberships in the Nassau, Suffolk and Queens County Bar Associations, and is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys.
