About Elisheva
Elisheva Patterson moved from rock formations to written briefs. She arrived at law school after nearly a decade of reading the earth. The shift has formed the way she strategies issues: methodical, proof-motivated and attuned to technical element.
Her formal education starts in the sciences. She earned a B.S. in Geology from the University of Kansas in 2009 and followed that with a M.S. in Geology from the University of Oklahoma in 2011. Several years later she turned to regulation, earning a J.D. from the James E. Rogers College of Law at the University of Arizona in 2020. The aggregate of graduate-level science training and a current law degree gives her fluency in two different professional languages.
Patterson's trail into legal practice has been formed by that twin background. Geology calls for careful gathering and interpretation of data. Law calls for clear argument and near attention to process. She has spoken about the usefulness of cross-disciplinary wondering when parsing technical reports, making ready evidence-gathering process, or explaining complex facts to clients and lay audiences.
She serves as an associate at Racine Olson. In that role she has worked on matters that advantage from a capacity to read technical cloth closely and to translate it into legal strategy. Colleagues describe her as someone who likes to check assumptions and to ensure the factual document helps the legal theory.
In the office she is understood for meticulous preparation. She prepares memos and briefs that hint issues back to the underlying data. She also spends time mentoring interns and more recent staff on how to examine scientific reports and regulatory filings. That combination of hands-on technical studying and legal drafting is a habitual theme in her work.
Outside the office she has continued to keep ties to the sciences. Her in advance academic work in geology gives her a shorthand for discussing subsurface situations, soil and rock conduct, and other subjects that sometimes arise in disputes and compliance matters. That background can shorten the time had to get up to speed on technical elements of a case.
Patterson is an affiliate at Racine Olson. She practices law in a role that draws on her geology training and law school training and concentrates on things that intersect legal and technical problems.
