About Colleen M
Colleen M. Kirby began her legal path with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from the University of Delaware in 2000 and earned her J.D. from the University of Baltimore School of Law in 2004. She remained tied to Maryland courts early in her professional life and built a résumé that consists of both appellate work and courtroom experience.
She served as a regulation clerk to the Hon. Joseph F. Murphy, Jr. in 2007, working at each the Maryland Court of Appeals and the Maryland Court of Special Appeals. That year exposed her to appellate procedure and written legal evaluation on the state’s better courts. The following year she joined the Howard County State’s Lawyer’s Office as an Assistant State’s Lawyer, the place she treated prosecutorial duties and regular courtroom appearances.
After numerous years in public service, Kirby moved to personal practice. In 2012 she joined Price Benowitz LLP as an associate lawyer. Her time there involved every day practice in Maryland courts and in addition development of trial and case-control skills. Two years later she based her personal firm, listing herself as Owner/Partner of the Law Office of Colleen M. Kirby, Esq. starting in 2014.
Kirby keeps memberships in professional organizations that align with the work she does. She is a recent member of the Maryland Criminal Defense Lawyers Association and holds club within the DUI Defense Lawyers Association. Those affiliations reflect an ongoing engagement with practitioners who manage felony and impaired-driving matters throughout the state.
Her career trail — from appellate clerkships to a county prosecutor’s office after which into private practice — has given her knowledge on both facets of criminal instances. She has handled courtroom matters and appeals, and she or he draws on that background when representing clients. Colleen M.
