William Wirkus built his path to regulation from the classrooms of La Crosse to courtrooms throughout Wisconsin. He earned a B.S. from the University of Wisconsin–La Crosse in 2008 and finished his J.D. at Ave Maria School of Law in 2011. Those years set a steady rhythm: study, practice, and a move into public service that would shape later work.
He joined the Wisconsin State Bar in 2011 and has remained an active member. Early in his career he worked at Doughty, Alcaraz & DeGraauw P.A., taking over a variety of things conventional of a small company practice. That hands-on knowledge in 2012 gave him exposure to litigation and client counseling. A few years later he moved into a position in election management for the State of Wisconsin in 2017. That stint positioned him within the machinery of public elections at a time when election processes have been receiving heightened awareness.
By 2019 Wirkus returned to personal practice as an attorney with Walden, Neitzke & Kuhary, S.C. His record shows work each in personal firm settings and in government office. He is licensed to practice before the Wisconsin courts and the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin. He is likewise a notary public certified by the Wisconsin Department of Financial Institutions.
