Steven M. Chanley is an employment attorney with over 30 years of experience, specializing in representing and advising employers in various labor and labor law matters. Chanley earned his Bachelor of Arts in English, cum laude, from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo in 1985. He later obtained his Juris Doctor from the University of California College of the Law, San Francisco in 1989. During his time in law program, he used to be a member of the Hastings Moot Court Board and acquired two American Jurisprudence awards for academic excellence in Labor Law.
His areas of practice consist of salary and hour legal proceedings, discrimination and harassment protection, wrongful discharge protection, proprietary information legal proceedings, whistleblower claims, worker misclassification issues, and employer advice and counsel. He also provides executive private attorney services, conducts internal investigations, and handles appeals. Chanley is skilled in various legal levels, including legal proceedings, negotiations, trials, appeals, and inner investigations.
Before founding Employer Advocates Group LC in 2002, Chanley gained knowledge at numerous regulation firms, which includes Morrison & Foerster LLP, Littler, Mendelson, Fastiff & Tichy, and Sinsheimer, Schiebelhut & Baggett. He has served as a Contributing Editor for "The Developing Labor Law," a leading treatise on labor-management family members under the National Labor Relations Act.
