About Shauna
Shauna Carmichael constructed a diverse educational basis earlier than getting into law. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies from Randolph-Macon Woman’s College in 2002, followed by a Master of Science in Conflict Analysis and Resolution from George Mason University in 2004. She later returned to learn about law and acquired her J.D. from Georgia State University College of Law in 2015. The combination of international studies, clash resolution education and a law degree formed an early interest in dispute work and public service.
Her legal career began in public protection and legal services. In 2016 she worked as a staff lawyer for the Committee for Public Counsel Services in Massachusetts, gaining hands-on trial experience and representing clients in state hearings. She moved back to Georgia and in 2019 served as a body of workers lawyer on the Georgia Legal Services Program, Inc., the place she handled civil matters for low-income clients. Those roles exposed her to household law, housing, and poverty-associated legal issues and to the constraints faced by people counting on legal aid.
In 2020 she opened Carmichael Family Law & Consulting LLC. The practice reflects the thru line of her work: helping individuals get to the bottom of disputes and navigate legal structures. She holds a Registered Neutral designation from the Georgia Commission on Dispute Resolution, a credential that signals education in facilitated negotiation and opportunity dispute resolution. Carmichael is admitted to practice in numerous state jurisdictions, including South Carolina, Connecticut, Georgia and Massachusetts, which lets in her to serve clients across a broader geographic area.
She maintains memberships in a variety of expert organizations. She is a member of the Georgia Association of Black Women Lawyers, the Georgia Association of Women Lawyers, the American Bar Association and the National Association for Community Mediation. Those ties keep her related to developments in family regulation, mediation practice, and legal offerings for underserved groups.
Colleagues describe a practitioner who moves among advocacy in courtroom and efforts to settle matters outside it. Her knowledge in legal help and public counsel work informs how she strategies client wants and legal strategy. She manages a small practice that gives direct representation and consulting services in family regulation and related dispute resolution things. Her current practice focuses on household law and dispute resolution.
