About Nicolas
Nicolas Nelson started his path to law after earning a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from Luther College in 2002 and a Juris Doctor from Mitchell Hamline School of Law in 2008. He completed law school and moved into legal work quickly. Early roles combined public service and realistic education that shaped his strategy to practice and client work.
While nevertheless early in his professional life he served as a regulation clerk for Southern Minnesota Regional Legal Services in 2006. That same year he worked as a manufacturer for Minnesota Wild radio broadcasts, a role outside the court that gave him experience in communications and public-facing work. After law program he held a partner position at Nelson Law Offices in 2008 after which joined Keay & Costello, P.C. as an associate in 2010.
In 2015 he opened The Law Offices of Nicholas Nelson. That move marked a shift back towards running his own practice. Over the years his expert base has shifted but his work continued to interact nearby bar groups and county committees. He is licensed to practice in Illinois and is active in his nearby legal network.
Nelson has been a seen presence in DuPage County legal circles. He chaired the DuPage County Bar Association Judges Night Committee from 2014 through 2021. He also served as vice chair of the DCBA Real Estate Committee from 2017 to 2018 and then as chair of that committee from 2018 to 2019. He holds memberships in the Kane County Bar Association and several DuPage County committees, including Family Law, Civil Law, and Estate Planning.
Those committee roles mirror the range of things which have turn out to be part of his practice. His work touches family law, real estate, property planning and civil litigation. Clients and colleagues see a lawyer who combines courtroom experience with familiarity in county-level process and committee work. He has balanced solo practice responsibilities with contributions to the expert community thru committee management and club.
He now practices beneath the NN Legal Group banner. The office handles things tied to the committee areas he has lengthy been concerned in, and he stays engaged with county bar activities. He currently practices at NN Legal Group, dealing with household regulation, actual property, estate making plans and civil matters.
