About Nicholas

Nicholas Nelson began his trail toward law in the Upper Midwest. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Bemidji State University in 2013 and completed his Juris Doctor on the University of North Dakota School of Law in 2016. Those years in the study room and in the regional legal community shaped a realistic strategy to legal problem solving.

While still in law school, Nelson spent time in practice as a law clerk on the Wahpeton Law Office in 2015. That experience exposed him to the every day work of a practicing attorney and provided early court and workplace familiarity. The clerkship got here at some point of the years he was finishing his J.D., giving him actual-world context for doctrinal study and legal research.

After finishing law program in 2016, Nelson continued his involvement in the North Dakota legal community. He is admitted to practice in North Dakota and before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit. Those admissions reflect a practice that navigates both state-degree things and certain federal appellate procedures. His background bridges educational training and practical court observation.

Nelson now works at Southern Valley Legal Services PLLC. The firm placement places him inside a tradition environment that serves clients throughout the region. Colleagues describe him as methodical in making ready filings and attentive to the procedural details that matter in courtroom and in client conferences. He brings to the position the habits shaped in law program: near awareness to legal studies and a curiosity in clean written advocacy.

Outside of the workplace, he remains related to the groups the place he trained and worked. Time spent in Bemidji and at the University of North Dakota informed how he strategies client matters and professional relationships. He attracts on that regional experience when assessing case strategy and communicating options to clients. Nelson currently practices at Southern Valley Legal Services PLLC, serving things in North Dakota and in hearings before the Eighth Circuit.
