About Necol

Necol Russell-Washington constructed her legal foundation at Ohio State University, where she earned a J.D. in 1997. She returned to learn about taxation and business law at Capital University Law School and finished a LL.M. in Business and Taxation in 2003. Those credentials sit at the core of a practice that blends courtroom work, regulatory matters and advisory roles.

She began working as an attorney in 2000 and is licensed to the bar in Ohio. Her admissions also include the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit and the U.S. Tax Court. Early in her profession she mixed practice with teaching. Since 2002 she has served as an adjunct professor in Wilberforce University’s CLIMB program, bringing practical regulation topics into the classroom.

Russell-Washington’s public service record runs long. She has been a commissioner at the Ohio Court of Claims Victim Compensation Panel since 2010. That role calls for court decision on sensitive claims and interaction with state procedures for compensating sufferers. She has sat on nonprofit and child welfare forums as well. Since 2004 she has been involved with Franklin County Children Services and, since 2007, with Huckleberry House. Those board roles have given her sustained exposure to governance and the legal issues that surface in nonprofit settings.

Her involvement in expert organizations is continuous. She has been a member of the American, Ohio State, and Columbus Bar Associations since 2000. From 2008 to 2010 she co-chaired the Columbus Bar Association’s Business Tax Committee, a position that connected practitioners, taxpayers and local regulators on tax coverage and practice questions.

In practice she handles things that mirror her academic training and her service knowledge. Tax controversies, enterprise-associated disputes and regulatory questions are ordinary components of her caseload. Her admissions to the Tax Court and the Sixth Circuit have allowed her to represent clients in appellate and specialized tax proceedings when the ones matters occur.

Colleagues describe her work as steady and precision-focused; clients seek her out for matters that require a knowing of tax rules and business systems along administrative and claims processes. She maintains an office at NRW LAW Office and manages a caseload that mixes tax and business matters with problems tied to victim compensation and baby welfare agencies. Her current practice makes a speciality of tax, enterprise and associated administrative matters.
