About Morris Mo Hugh Wiltshire
Morris Mo Hugh Wiltshire Jr. completed his undergraduate studies in political science at Millsaps College in 1988 and earned his law degree from The University of Georgia School of Law in 1991. He is licensed to practice in Georgia and constructed a career that moves between public service and personal practice.
Early in his career he worked within the prosecutor’s offices that manage circuit-degree matters. In 1994 he served as Assistant District Lawyer for the Blue Ridge Judicial Circuit. He joined personal practice in 1997 as a lawyer with Garcia & Powell and became a companion in 2000 at Garcia Rose & Wiltshire. In 2004 he returned to public work as Solicitor-General for the State Court of Clarke County, a role that put him squarely in command of misdemeanor and ordinance prosecutions in that courtroom. He re-entered personal partnership in 2007 at Prior Daniel & Wiltshire and in 2018 released Wiltshire Defense, where he practices under his own name.
That blend of prosecution and defense experience shapes how he approaches cases. He has treated matters at trial and in pretrial settings. His document of peer and client popularity includes an AV Rating from attorney rating service, a 10.0 rating on Avvo, selection to top-rated attorneys list, and inclusion amongst the Top 100 Criminal Defense Lawyers by The National Trial Lawyers Association. He is also indexed in the National Association of Distinguished Counsel’s Nation’s Top 1% listings.
Peers see him as an attorney who understands courtroom dynamics. He has argued motions, attempted instances to juries, and treated plea negotiations. His resume indicates continuous courtroom work throughout county and state courts in Georgia, and he remains lively in expert teams tied to felony defense and trial practice.
He keeps memberships in the Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the State Bar of Georgia. He is also a member of the National Academy of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the American Society of Legal Advocates, the National Advocacy for DUI Defense, and The National Trial Lawyers, where he has been indexed amongst the Top one hundred since 2013. Those affiliations offer regular touch with peers and continuing legal education in hastily converting areas of criminal regulation.
Colleagues and clients encounter an attorney who has shifted roles over 3 decades—public prosecutor, personal partner, and solo practitioner. He handles legal proceedings and advisement on criminal things and continues to symbolize clients in Georgia. He advocates for clients in felony things at Wiltshire Defense.
