About Michael Keith
Michael Keith Pence earned his B.A. from Western Kentucky University in 2001 and finished his J.D. at Nashville School of Law in 2006. He is licensed to practice in Tennessee and has spent his profession building a trial practice in that state.
He moved into personal practice soon after law school and became a partner in Roberts, Thornton & Pence in 2009. A decade later he took possession at Thornton & Pence in 2019. His career has included both partnership responsibilities and company management, roles that mixed casework, client intake and the administrative needs of operating a small firm. Pence has belonged to a number of professional organizations. He has been listed in The National Trial Lawyers since 2009 and has served at the board of the Tennessee Trial Lawyers Association since that same year. He joined Americas Top one hundred Lawyers in 2014 and NAOPIA in 2016. He additionally holds memberships in the Nashville Bar Association, the Tennessee Bar Association, the American Bar Association and the Tennessee Association for Justice.
Throughout his career he has handled civil litigation arising from critical injuries and injurious events. He advocates for clients in cases that contain physical damage and associated losses. Much of his work involves preparing cases for settlement talks and, when necessary, taking them to trial. He has experience guiding cases through pretrial research, discovery and courtroom proceedings.
Colleagues describe his role as that of a litigation attorney who carries dossier duty from opening to resolution. He manages client relationships, works with experts and drafts the court filings and motions that pass a case ahead.
