About Michael A.
Michael A. Gerstein earned his J.D. from Suffolk University Law School in 1976. He followed that degree with a LL.M. in Tax from Boston University School of Law, completed in 1978. He is admitted to practice in Massachusetts and has remained lively in the bar network there. He presently serves as president of the Haverhill Bar Association and maintains club in the Massachusetts Bar Association. His friends know him through the ones nearby and statewide connections instead of thru public legal proceedings headlines.
Gerstein’s academic background in tax lends itself to work that is detailed and technical. Over the years he has handled matters that require an understanding of federal and state tax regulations, planning strategies, and compliance issues. He has recommended on income tax questions and helped clients interpret complex statutory provisions. His work has a tendency to involve careful analysis and the software of tax concepts to concrete issues.
Colleagues describe his approach as methodical. He takes the time to sort through facts and explain the legal landscape in realistic phrases. That realistic bent indicates in how he participates in bar things to do too: leading conferences, organizing instructional occasions, and helping different lawyers navigate procedural and moral questions at the nearby level.
Gerstein’s career spans a duration of considerable difference in tax law and practice. He entered the career after earning his J.D. in the mid‑1970s and gained further specialization together with his LL.M. within the late 1970s. The aggregate of longstanding membership in professional organizations and a postgraduate tax degree has shaped how he practices today.
He maintains a local orientation. Much of his work is carried out inside Massachusetts, where he handles tax‑associated things for people and small businesses, assists with tax strategy and compliance, and participates in bar governance. He currently concentrates his practice on taxation law and associated things in Massachusetts.
