About Melissa L.
Melissa L. Padgett earned her juris doctor from Thomas Goode Jones School of Law at Faulkner University in 2014. She finished her undergraduate studies at Auburn University, graduating in 2010 with a bachelor’s degree in agricultural business and economics. Those two degrees set a realistic foundation for a profession that has moved between private practice and court-appointed roles.
Fresh out of law school in 2014, Padgett opened a solo practice under the call Melissa L. Padgett Lawyer at Law, LLC. She treated the everyday tasks of a small practice: drafting court filings, meeting clients, and appearing in courtroom. The following year she joined Otts, Moore, Coale, Godwin, Stearns & Darby as an affiliate lawyer. In that role she broadened her trial experience and worked on things that required near client touch and detailed preparation.
Padgett is certified to practice in Alabama. She is also certified as a guardian ad litem in Juvenile Court. That certification places her in a wonderful role in instances involving young people. As a guardian ad litem she investigates family conditions, prepares reviews for judges, and makes suggestions aimed at protecting minors’ interests. The work requires clean verbal exchange with courts, social offerings, and families, and it calls for attention to each legal detail and practical realities.
Her career path has combined the autonomy of a solo practitioner with the assets of a larger firm. She has maintained ties to her personal practice whilst working in the structure of Otts, Moore, Coale, Godwin, Stearns & Darby. That mix has given her publicity to court procedure and client counseling throughout several types of hearings. Colleagues and court employees have relied on her for constant, procedural work that helps judicial selections in touchy cases.
Padgett’s expert knowledge centers on matters that convey legal standards and household conditions into direct contact. She is familiar with the procedural mechanics of juvenile courtroom and the documentary work that accompanies guardianship assignments. Her strategy has a tendency to be methodical: gather facts, document findings, and gift them clearly to the court. She continues to practice in Alabama, the place her current work focuses on juvenile courtroom things and serving as a guardian advert litem.
