About Matthew P.
Matthew P. Kelley educated in two very diverse lecture rooms. He earned a B.A. from Davidson College in 2002 and a J.D. from Suffolk University Law School in 2005. Those years laid out the basics — studies, courtroom procedure and the habits of long days in practice.
He stepped into public service immediately after law school. In 2005 he served as Chief District Court Prosecutor and Assistant District Lawyer in the Cape and Islands District Lawyer's Office. That early role put him in front of juries and judges, dealing with preliminary appearances, arraignments and trial calendars. The work shaped his view of the felony legal system and gave him steady courtroom time on the outset of his career.
After numerous years within the public sector he moved into personal practice. In 2011 he worked on the Law Offices of James B. Stinson, the place he took on a variety of matters typical for a small company practice. In 2017 he opened his personal workplace, running as Matthew P. Kelley, Lawyer at Law. Running a solo practice pressured him to handle each substantive regulation and the many practical demands of managing client files, courtroom time limits and the business side of a law office.
Kelley has maintained ties to the legal network thru affiliation memberships. He has been a member of the Barnstable County Bar Association since 2012. He also joined the Massachusetts Bar Association and the Massachusetts Academy of Trial Lawyers in 2017 and remains lively in the ones organizations. The memberships indicate regular engagement with local and state bar networks and get entry to to continuing legal education and professional resources.
