About Matthew J.

Matthew J. Broder constructed a continuous professional legal career in Connecticut law. He went from court support roles to private practice and has run his personal workplace since 2001.

He earned a Bachelor of Science in political science from the University of Connecticut in 1989 and a law degree from the University of Connecticut School of Law in 1992. Those years framed his early exposure to state courts and the mechanics of legal proceedings.

Fresh from law program, he labored as a Temporary Assistant Clerk for the State of Connecticut Judicial Department in 1992. That role put him within the courthouse day to day and provided a realistic grounding in procedure and case control. A few years later he moved into private practice as an affiliate on the Law Office of Gary A. Mastronardi in 1994. He spent time at Cousins & Johnson as an associate in 2000, broadening his knowledge in company settings.

In 2001 he took two meaningful steps. He started serving as Assigned Counsel for the State of Connecticut, a position that covered court-appointed representation. He also opened The Law Office of Matthew J. Broder and started operating as a solo attorney. Those moves shifted him from supporting roles and company work into independent practice.

Outside of his day-to-day casework, Broder has maintained ties to the nearby legal community. He holds memberships within the Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association and the Greater Bridgeport Bar Association. Those associations maintain him connected to colleagues and developments in state practice.

Broder’s career is marked by continuous development through more than one legal roles instead of by excessive-profile headlines. He has navigated the administrative side of the courts, discovered the rhythms of small-company practice, and then translated the ones experiences into a solo practice version. Clients who come to a small workplace frequently find an attorney who understands how matters pass thru Connecticut’s courts and what to expect at each stage.

He continues to practice regulation in Connecticut from The Law Office of Matthew J. Broder. His current practice concentrates on representing clients in matters brought in Connecticut state courts.
