Lisa G. Arrowood graduated from Brown University in 1978 and earned her J.D. from Harvard Law School in 1982. Those years at the East Coast set the stage for a long profession in litigation. Her academic background is frequently the start line humans mention when discussing her trajectory into courtroom work.
After law program she joined Hale and Dorr LLP in 1982. That early duration was spent in legal proceedings practice at a giant company, gaining knowledge in civil trials and pretrial work. She became licensed to the Massachusetts bar in 1982 and later secured admissions to federal courts, which includes the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts and the First and Fourth Circuit Courts of Appeal.
In 1992 she was amongst the founding partners of Todd & Weld LLP. Over the years at Todd & Weld she treated complicated civil matters and took on a range of trial responsibilities. Colleagues from that generation remember her for a methodical approach within the courtroom and an emphasis on clean, persuasive presentation of details and regulation.
Nearly 20 years later she launched Arrowood LLP in 2011. As founding partner, she built a smaller practice structure after years at large companies. The pass allowed her to control cases extra directly and to shape firm policies and staffing. Arrowood LLP has since been the bottom for her ongoing work in civil legal proceedings.
Her professional affiliations cover a mix of bar organizations and specialty groups. She has been a member of the Massachusetts State Bar since 1982 and the Boston Bar Association, the place she has served at the government committee since 2010 and earlier co-chaired the Tort Litigation Committee from 2007 to 2009. She has been lively within the American Bar Association, including service as Vice-Chair of the Medicine and Law Subcommittee of the Tort and Insurance Practice Section from 1987 to 1994, and presently participates on the ABA Standing Committee at the Federal Judiciary for the First Circuit.
Arrowood has long ties to the American College of Trial Lawyers. She have become a Fellow in 2005, served as Vice-Chair of its State Committee from 2007 to 2009, chaired that committee from 2009 to 2011, and has served at the Regents Nominating Committee since 2011. She has also contributed to nearby legal education packages, including work with Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education and the Massachusetts Bar Association’s Health Law Council.
She keeps an active legal proceedings practice in Massachusetts, handling matters in state and federal courts and persevering with to steer Arrowood LLP.
