About Kim
Kim Benjamin earned a Bachelor of Science in political science and interdisciplinary studies from the University of Missouri–Columbia in 1993. She went on to law program at The George Washington University, receiving her J.D. in 1996. In 2000 she studied trial skills at the Gerry Spence Trial Lawyers College and later joined its school.
Her professional legal career started in public defense. In 1996 she joined the Missouri State Public Defender System as a district defender and associate lawyer. That early courtroom work formed her strategy to felony defense and litigation preparation. In 2002 she opened her personal firm and have become the proprietor and managing attorney of Benjamin Law Office, LLC.
Over the years Benjamin has further a number of specialised certifications. She completed standardized field sobriety test education and certification thru TBJ Inc and Gary Lowe & Associates. She is also certified in Drug Recognition Evaluations thru TBJ Inc. Those technical credentials underpin her work on impaired-driving cases and on witness cross-examination of professional witnesses.
Benjamin’s involvement in expert organizations is in depth and consists of both management and coaching roles. She has served at the board of the Missouri Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and as its president. She is vice chairman of the Missouri Society for Justice/DWI Defense Institute and a member of the National College of DUI Defense faculty. Locally she holds club within the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association, the Cass County Bar Association—the place she has chaired technology training—and the Association of Women Lawyers. From 2016 to 2020 she served as a hearing officer and member of the Missouri Ethics Commission.
Her ties to trial advocacy extend past Missouri. As a graduate and school member of the Gerry Spence Trial Lawyers College, Benjamin teaches trial abilities to different lawyers.
