Julie A. Treppa is a certified attorney licensed to practice regulation in the State of California. She was admitted to the California State Bar in 1995. Her license is currently in lively standing. Ms. Treppa is a partner at Farella Braun + Martel LLP, a law company located in San Francisco, California. She has been working as an attorney for over 30 years, serving clients throughout the San Francisco Bay Area and past.
Ms. Treppa earned her Juris Doctor degree from the University of San Francisco School of Law, graduating magna cum laude in 1995. Prior to law school, she finished her undergraduate education at the University of California, Davis, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1987. She furthered her law school training by acquiring a Master of Science in Taxation from Golden Gate University School of Taxation in 1992.
Ms. Treppa concentrates her practice in the areas of tax law, with a specific focus on New Markets Tax Credits and Opportunity Zones. She represents investors, developers, businesses, and nonprofit organizations in using tax incentives and credits to achieve financial dreams whilst helping social, environmental, and community-based initiatives. Her practice encompasses all levels of tax-associated matters, which includes transaction planning, fund formation, fairness incentive packages, and deferred damages matters under Code Section 409A.
Throughout her profession, Ms. Treppa has treated cases in various courts, including federal and state courts, and has been concerned in severa transactions and tasks utilizing tax credits and incentives. She has also served as chair of the Tax practice team at Coblentz Patch Duffy & Bass LLP before joining Farella Braun + Martel in 2017. She is acknowledged by leading attorneys list in America within the Tax Law and Nonprofit/Charity Law areas of practice (2018-2026) and was named to the inaugural Lawdragon 500 Leading Global Tax Lawyers in 2025.
Ms. Treppa is an active member of the American College of Tax Counsel, serving as a Fellow since 2022. She is likewise involved with Equal Rights Advocates, serving on its Board of Directors and Audit Committee. Additionally, she participates within the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program, providing tax help to underserved groups. Ms. Treppa is fluent in English and Spanish, allowing her to serve a diverse clientele successfully.
