About John

John Nelson studied at the University of Georgia, earning an AB in 2012. He went directly to Stetson University College of Law and acquired his J.D. in 2015. Those years formed his interest in how technological know-how and law intersect. They also located his early expert community in Florida, where he later built his practice.

After law program Nelson started practicing in Florida and remains admitted to the Florida bar. Early in his profession he worked on things that introduced him into touch with privacy rules and digital-safety concerns. Over time the ones early encounters informed the course of his work and the clientele he serves.

Nelson's expert path has clustered round cyber regulation and associated regions. He handles matters that touch on privacy, incident response and compliance with regulatory necessities. His casework has involved advising organizations at the legal contours of data dealing with and on responses to safety incidents. He also advises on contractual provisions that allocate risk tied to technology and data flows.

He maintains memberships in the Federal Bar Association and the West Pasco County Bar Association. Those affiliations keep him engaged with colleagues across diverse federal and local practices. He also uses those channels to stay current on developments in federal procedure and within the regional legal community.

Nelson practices at Nelson Cyber Law, PLLC. He works with businesses and institutions that face legal questions springing up from technology and information control. He combines courtroom experience, transactional drafting and advisory work in client things. He balances reactive work — responding to incidents and enforcement inquiries — with proactive counseling aimed toward decreasing legal and regulatory exposure.

Colleagues and clients describe him as methodical and direct in his approach. He writes and speaks approximately practical steps organizations can take to shore up insurance policies and contractual terms referring to data. Outside the workplace he continues to comply with changes in cybersecurity requirements and federal and state regulatory activity that have an effect on how organizations handle data. His current practice makes a speciality of cyber law, privacy and information safety.
