About Jimmy D. Long
Jimmy D. Long Jr. began his educational journey at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, the place he earned a Bachelor of Arts in History in 1982. He went on to attend Loyola University New Orleans College of Law, finishing his legal research in 1987. Those formative years set the inspiration for a tradition that would center on issues of succession, property and the mechanics of estate administration.
He launched his personal practice in 1990 and has operated under the name Jimmy D. Long, Jr., L.L.C. since that time. Early work within the workplace covered a range of civil things, before the practice steadily narrowed towards property planning and administration. The choice to maintain a small, privately held firm has allowed him to handle complicated property things for my part and to remain intently concerned with clients at some point of transitions that may be both legal and private.
Long is licensed to appear before numerous courts. His listed jurisdictions include the Fifth Circuit, the State of Louisiana and the United States Supreme Court. He is also Board Certified in Estate Planning and Administration by the Louisiana Board of Legal Specialization, a credential that shows a focused practice in those topic areas and an ongoing engagement with the procedural and substantive guidelines that govern estates and estate administration.
Outside the office, Long has been a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association since 1990. That long-running affiliation has placed him amongst peers who address modifications in state law, probate process and tax implications for estates. Over the years his involvement with the bar has coincided with shifts in property planning tools and an increasing want for clarity in drafting wills, trusts and associated devices.
Clients and colleagues describe Long as a lawyer who handles the technical elements of estate work whilst getting to the human details that often accompany it. He has constructed a practice that handles wills, trusts, probate management and related litigation when disputes occur. He continues to simply accept things thru his company, the place he focuses on property making plans and management.
