Harvey L. Ziff is a certified attorney licensed to practice regulation within the State of California. He was licensed to the California State Bar in 1967. His license is presently in active status. Mr. Ziff is a partner at Ziff & Cohn, a regulation company positioned in Los Altos, California. He has been practicing law for over fifty-eight years, serving clients across the Bay Area.
Mr. Ziff earned his Juris Doctor diploma from Stanford University School of Law in 1967. Prior to law school, he finished his undergraduate schooling at the Wharton School of Finance, University of Pennsylvania, receiving a Bachelor of Science diploma in 1964. He also earned a Master of Laws (LL.M.) from Northwestern University School of Law in 1969, specializing within the Advanced Criminal Law Program.
Mr. Ziff concentrates his practice in the regions of private injury and felony protection law. He advocates for individuals in things involving car accidents, slip and fall incidents, and other injury claims. His practice encompasses all levels of legal proceedings, including initial case evaluation, evidence-gathering process, facilitated negotiation, settlement discussions, and trial hearings in both state and federal courts.
Throughout his career, Mr. Ziff has handled instances in the Superior Court of California for the County of Santa Clara, the United States District Court for the Northern District of California, the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, and the United States highest court. He has also appeared earlier than the California Court of Appeal on more than one occasions. Prior to founding his own firm, he labored as an associate at a mid-length legal proceedings firm in Palo Alto for several years.
Mr. Ziff is a member in good standing of the Santa Clara County Trial Lawyers Association, the Palo Alto Bar Association, the Santa Clara County Bar Association, the San Mateo County Bar Association, and the Consumer Attorneys of California. He has been recognized as a "Northern California Super Lawyer" from 2001 to 2025, based on peer popularity and achievements in representing private damage plaintiffs. He is also a member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum, a company limited to lawyers who have achieved million-dollar verdicts and settlements. Mr. Ziff is fluent in English and Spanish, allowing him to serve the diverse groups of the Bay Area successfully.
