About Greg

Greg Shevlin constructed a steady profession in private practice after studying politics and philosophy as an undergraduate. He earned a B.A. in political science and philosophy from Benedictine College in 1985 and later took up legal studies at Washburn University School of Law, the place he finished his J.D. He moved into the Illinois legal network quickly after.

Shevlin joined the State Bar of Illinois in 1988. That membership has remained a steady professional anchor thru decades of practice. Early in his career he have become a partner at Cook, Bartholomew, Shevlin, Cook & Jones, LLP in 1990. That role put him in the midst of firm-level choice making and client work, and it formed his approach to running a regulation workplace.

Over the years Shevlin treated matters conventional of a lifelong practitioner in a regional market. He spent lengthy stretches doing the day-to-day work of advising clients, making ready filings, and acting in court when important. Colleagues describe him as methodical and practical in his handling of cases. He has balanced casework with the executive duties that include partnership and later with managing his own workplace.

His practice trail moved from partnership at a multi-attorney company to establishing his own practice. He now operates out of Shevlin Law Group, LLC. That transition reflects a common arc among lawyers who seek extra control over client service and firm control. It also displays his choice for a smaller, extra nimble practice structure.

Throughout his career Shevlin remained rooted in Illinois. He has maintained expert ties thru the State Bar and thru local networks developed over years of practice. Those connections help word of mouth and continuous client intake. He handles matters for people and agencies that require an attorney acquainted with state procedures and nearby courts.

Outside the workplace, Shevlin’s background in political science and philosophy informed a considerate view of law and public affairs. He applies that perspective when advising clients on practical alternatives and legal risks, often favoring clear explanations over legalese.

Today Shevlin continues to serve clients from his workplace at Shevlin Law Group, LLC. He practices in Illinois and concentrates his work on serving people and agencies thru his personal practice.
