Gerald N. Jacobowitz is a senior partner at Jacobowitz & Gubits, LLP, a law firm based in Walden, New York. He has been practicing law in New York since 1959, specializing in business, environmental, municipal, and property law. Throughout his profession, he has served as village and town attorney for various municipalities within the Hudson Valley region. He used to be elected to Phi Beta Kappa. He then obtained his law degree from New York University School of Law in 1958, serving as a John Ben Snow Root Tilden Scholar. He served as a member of the Executive Committee of the New York State Bar Association's Municipal Law Section from 1982, holding positions as secretary, second and primary vice-chair, and chair from 1993 to 1995. He was additionally a unique co-editor of the "Municipal Lawyer," the official publication of the area. Within the Orange County Bar Association, he has held roles as president, director, treasurer. Vice-president, and was the original co-editor of the "Orange County Lawyer," the association's official newsletter. Mr. Jacobowitz has demonstrated a robust dedication to public service work. He used to be a founding director of the Orange County Pro-Bono Legal Services, Inc., served as a member of the Orange County Planning Board since 1997.
Was vice-chairman of the Orange County Charter Revision Commission from 1994 to 1996. He has also been a director of the Walden Federal Savings and Loan Association for 40-8 years and serves as a director of the Meyer and Lillian Jacobowitz Charitable Foundation. Since 2000, he has been a founding director and president of the Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan. Throughout his distinguished career, Mr. Jacobowitz has been acknowledged for his contributions to the legal profession and the community. In 2011, the Orange County Bar Association honored him for his fifty two years of service during their 100th Annual Awards & Business Dinner Meeting.
