About Frank

Frank Holleman is an attorney whose career bridges regulation, public service and environmental advocacy. He earned a B.A. in political science from Furman University in 1972 and a J.D. from Harvard Law School in 1979. Those educational years set the stage for a professional life spent in both government and personal practice.

After law program he entered personal practice. Records show he joined Wyche Burgess Freeman & Parham in 1982 and maintained club there as part of his early profession. That time in a general legal proceedings and corporate company gave him knowledge in transactional work and court practice at the state level.

Holleman moved into public service on the countrywide degree in 1999 when he served as U.S. Deputy Secretary of Education at the U.S. Department of Education. In that role he labored on federal schooling coverage and control of departmental operations. The submit used to be a notable departure from his private-practice years and taken him into the heart of federal policymaking.

In 2011 he joined the Southern Environmental Law Center as a senior lawyer. At the center he has engaged in litigation and advocacy on environmental things across the Southeast. His work there has concerned state regulatory proceedings, legal proceedings over natural-resource protections, and efforts to persuade public policy on energy and conservation issues. The shift to environmental regulation law marked an extended-time period change in his practice priorities.

Holleman is an active member of the South Carolina State Bar and practices under South Carolina jurisdiction. He has balanced roles in each nonprofit advocacy and traditional law practice through the years. Colleagues describe him as continuous and pragmatic within the court and in bargaining sessions.

He has alternated among public posts, private firm practice and nonprofit work. That mix has given him familiarity with regulatory law, state and federal legal proceedings, and coverage development in schooling and environmental fields.

Now primarily based on the Southern Environmental Law Center, he continues to work on environmental legal proceedings and public-interest matters in South Carolina and the surrounding area. His recent practice makes a speciality of environmental and public-interest regulation on the Southern Environmental Law Center.
