About Eric
Eric Olson earned his Juris Doctor from Hamline University School of Law, receiving a J.D. in 1997. He finished his legal research after a steady course thru the mid-Nineteen Nineties and entered the Minnesota legal community soon afterward.
He started working as an attorney in Minnesota and constructed realistic courtroom experience over the years. In 2001 he opened Olson Defense and took at the responsibilities of proprietor and lawyer. Opening his own firm allowed him to form a small practice that handles a broad range of things in state courts.
Colleagues describe Olson as simple in courtroom and thorough in preparation. He has spent much of his profession representing clients in Minnesota. That knowledge extends from early litigation work to the various caseload a solo company encounters. He handles intake, client counseling, bargaining and trial work himself, rather than outsourcing those core tasks.
Over 20 years in practice taught him the rhythms of local courts and the way procedures differ from county to county. He has developed working relationships with courtroom body of workers and opposing counsel across the state. Those relationships inform how he schedules proceedings, strategies plea bargaining sessions and manages case timelines.
Olson’s practice has operated out of Olson Defense since 2001. The company is understated in length, which allows him to be concerned within the facts of every topic. He draws on long-status ties in the community when preparing instances and determining strategic options. He is a member of the Minnesota bar and continues to keep his practice within the state.
He has not posted widely nor held public office, and there are no listed educational appointments presently. His work has centered on client representation and court advocacy instead of scholarship or bar management positions.
Outside the office he spends time keeping up with changes in procedural guidelines and nearby practice. He adapts his approach as courtroom procedures evolve and as case law develops. He currently practices at Olson Defense, representing clients in Minnesota state courts.
