About Donald

Donald Gallick brings a methodical and courtroom-tested background to his personal practice. He earned a J.D. from the University of Akron in 1998 after completing a B.A. in History and Philosophy at Ohio University in 1995. He returned to the academy for a grasp’s degree in History and Bioethics at Cleveland State University in 2002. In 2011 he attended the Trial Lawyer College for trial advocacy training, a knowledge that deepened his practical skills at the lectern.

His early profession covered a stint as an Assistant Prosecuting Lawyer for the City of Cleveland in 2001. That role put him on the the front line of charging decisions, court procedure and trial preparation. He transitioned into personal practice and opened his own company in 2004. Since then he has managed a caseload that spans trial work and appellate things, alternating between the jobs of court advocate and appellate strategist as circumstances require.

Licenses to practice prolong beyond the state degree. He is admitted in Ohio and holds admissions to the U.S. highest court and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. The highest court of Ohio has licensed him beneath Rule 20 as Death Penalty Certified for appeals and trial co-counsel. That certification allows him to serve along lead counsel in capital instances when appointed or retained.

Gallick’s training and work reflect a preference for contested court work. His Trial Lawyer College experience is complemented by years of trial practice. He has served as each prosecutor and defense-oriented counsel, gaining point of view on how cases evolve from charging through attraction. He often handles evidentiary hearings, jury trials and appellate briefs. His practice emphasizes legal proceedings and procedural work rather than transactional things.

Clients and colleagues describe him as practical and deliberate in court. He prepares evidence and witnesses himself and spends time drafting appeals when the document calls for it. Outside the courtroom he has an educational interest in legal history and bioethics, a curiosity rooted in his graduate studies. He continues to simply accept appointments and instances that name for trial experience and appellate advocacy.

He currently operates a personal practice under the name Donald Gallick, Esq., and focuses his work on criminal proceeding and appellate litigation, including roles as appeals and trial co-counsel in capital cases.
