About Derrick

Derrick Hogan constructed a continuous professional legal career that moves among public service and personal practice. He studied history as an undergraduate, then went directly to law program prior to joining a regional company where he rose thru the ranks to partnership.

He earned a B.A. in history from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in 2001. After a few years in the area, he enrolled at Albany Law School, completing his J.D. in 2008. Those years based the tutorial foundation he later introduced to public-sector and company work.

Early in his legal training Hogan labored in local authorities legal offices. In 2006 he served as an intern within the Schenectady County law office. The following yr he labored as a legal aide at the New York State Attorney General’s workplace. Those positions exposed him to authorities practice and the mechanics of public regulation early in his career.

Hogan joined Tully Rinckey PLLC in 2009, first as a law clerk after which as an associate. He took on a client relations lawyer and supervisor position in 2010, a position that mixed case dealing with with overseeing client communication and intake structures. Over the next numerous years he continued to practice on the firm and was named a partner in 2017. Outside of practice, Hogan is a member of Phi Beta Kappa, an honor society he joined in 2005. He maintains expert ties in the New York legal community and has remained primarily based in the state where he is licensed to practice.
