About Derek Deake
Derek Deake Lim is a certified attorney licensed to practice law in the State of California. He used to be licensed to the California State Bar in 1996. His license is currently in active status. Mr. Lim is the founder and principal attorney at The Law Offices of Derek Lim, a regulation company with workplaces in Fremont and San Francisco, California. He has been practicing law for over 30 years, serving clients throughout the San Francisco Bay Area.
Mr. Lim earned his Juris Doctor degree from the New College of California School of Law in 1995. Prior to law school, he finished his undergraduate schooling on the University of California, Riverside, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics in 1978. During his time at New College of California, he targeted on areas pertinent to his future practice, including immigration and personal damage law.
Mr. Lim concentrates his practice in the areas of immigration law, personal damage, family regulation, property making plans, and corporate law. He advocates for individuals and businesses in matters involving workplace discrimination, wrongful termination, pay disputes, premises liability claims, and a number of immigration problems. His practice encompasses all stages of legal proceedings, which includes initial case assessment, discovery, facilitated negotiation, settlement discussions, and trial proceedings in each state and federal courts.
Throughout his career, Mr. Lim has handled instances within the Superior Court of California for the County of Alameda, the United States District Court for the Northern District of California, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. He has also seemed before the California Court of Appeal on multiple events. Prior to founding his own firm, he labored as an affiliate at a mid-length legal proceedings company in Fremont for five years.
Mr. Lim is a member in good standing of the Alameda County Bar Association, the Asian American Bar Association, the State Bar of California, the American Immigration Lawyers Association, and the Association of Trial Lawyers of America. He is also a member of the American Bar Association Section of Litigation. Mr. Lim is fluent in English, Cantonese, Mandarin, Chaozhou Dialect, Thai, and Laotian, allowing him to serve the numerous communities of the San Francisco Bay Area successfully.
