About Creighton
Creighton Mendivil earned his Doctor of Jurisprudence from Monterey College of Law in 2009. His time in law school included realistic education: participation in the Monterey Small Claims Court Mediation Program, advanced facilitated negotiation guide with William Monning, and a civil mock trial under Ronald Granberg. He also took part in Project Clean Slate, representing homeless clients in efforts to clean minor violations.
Before law school, Mendivil completed a Bachelor of Arts on the University of Nevada at Reno in 1996. The aggregate of a liberal arts schooling and hands-on legal training formed an early interest in public service. He moved into pro bono work quickly after graduating from Monterey College of Law and has maintained that thread through so much of his career.
Mendivil has spent years in and around network legal clinics. Since 2011 he has served as a volunteer supervising lawyer for the Walnut Avenue Women’s Center law school clinic. He started as an advocate for the middle’s Domestic Violence Survivor Program in 2010 and remains concerned. Those roles have stored him close to the practical needs of survivors and low-income clients.
His volunteer work reaches past Walnut Avenue. Mendivil has been a volunteer lawyer with California Rural Legal Assistance since 2009. That organization handles a wide array of civil legal problems for rural citizens. His sustained volunteer engagement suggests a continuous dedication to clinics and public-curiosity practice rather than a series of brief-term tasks.
Training in mediation is a habitual thread. The small claims mediation program and the advanced direction with Monning supplied structured knowledge in opportunity dispute resolution. The civil mock trial work added court process and litigation practice. Taken collectively, the training and volunteer roles factor to an attorney relaxed in each negotiated resolutions and court settings.
Project Clean Slate is a notable early task. There Mendivil labored on clearing minor violations for homeless clients, a place the place legal office work and advocacy can right away have an effect on housing and employment possibilities. That realistic experience complements his volunteer clinic supervision and family violence advocacy.
Mendivil’s document reads like that of an attorney who has balanced community service, mediation training, and court practice. He continues to volunteer whilst maintaining a personal practice. Creighton Mendivil’s recent practice focuses on civil matters, facilitated negotiation, domestic violence advocacy, and legal help for low-income and rural clients.
