About Christopher

Christopher York graduated from Fordham University School of Law in 1980. His law school training got here at a time of moving felony justice practices, and it set the stage for an extended profession in county-degree prosecution and local bar management. He entered the profession geared up to transport among court work and office management.

Soon after law school, York took a prosecutorial path. In 1983 he joined the Westchester County District Lawyer’s workplace as an Assistant District Lawyer and later served as Deputy Bureau Chief. Those years put him in regular contact with trial calendars, evidence-gathering process practice and the daily needs of a busy county office. The work required common courtroom appearances and supervision of junior attorneys.

By 2001 York had moved to Putnam County, the place he became Chief Assistant District Lawyer. In that position he controlled case flow and helped oversee prosecutorial operations. The title reflected expanded administrative responsibilities in addition to continued court responsibilities. Colleagues from that duration describe a lawyer comfortable in each trial settings and the duties of operating a workplace.

Outside the courthouse, York has been active in local and state bar organizations. He has served as a director of the Putnam County Bar Association since 2011. He joined the New York State Bar Association in 2013 and became a member of the New York State Defenders Association in 2014. Earlier, from 2005 to 2013, he sat at the board of an Alternatives to Incarceration program. That mix of roles locations him at the intersection of prosecutorial practice and efforts to discover diverse responses to crime and community supervision.

York’s profession is marked by long service in county offices and continuous participation in expert teams. He has moved from hands-on court work to roles that required oversight and coordination across offices. The experience spans trial advocacy, case control and bar governance.

He presently practices as a lawyer at law. His current work attracts on years of trial and trial experience and on his time managing county prosecutorial operations.
