About Christopher

Christopher Wegner built a steady trail thru law and tax over the course of 20 years. He began his higher education in Florida, earning a B.B.A. in computer science from Florida Gulf Coast University in 2002. He moved into legal research at Stetson University College of Law, the place he acquired his J.D. in 2006. He later completed a LL.M. in Taxation at New York University School of Law in 2009.

His early legal work placed him inside the federal courthouse. In 2007 he served as a staff lawyer for the Federal District Court for the Middle District of Florida. That role gave him hands-on publicity to federal procedures and court management. He worked on matters that touched both procedural and substantive aspects of federal legal proceedings, and he saw how tax and business issues frequently intersect with legal proceedings in that placing.

After numerous years in and around the courthouse he moved into private practice. In 2014 he joined Akerman LLC as an affiliate lawyer. At Akerman he treated matters that drew on his tax training and his legal proceedings experience. His time at a bigger company sharpened his drafting and client counseling abilities. It also expanded his familiarity with business clients and the kinds of tax and regulatory questions they bring to outside general counsel.

Wegner's academic background in computer science and enterprise, combined with his law and tax degrees, gives him a practical perspective on technical and monetary problems. He has handled transactional work, tax analysis and elements of bankruptcy and corporate restructuring in client matters. He strategies issues by figuring out the legal matters first, then mapping them onto practical results for clients instead of getting lost in summary concept.

He based and now heads Wegner Law PLLC. The small-firm setting lets him control cases right away and maintain closer client relationships. He attracts on courtroom experience, company training and graduate tax schooling to advise people and agencies. He continues to practice in Florida.

He now leads Wegner Law PLLC, dealing with tax and corporate law matters.
