About Christopher Michael

Christopher Michael Buell trained first as a journalist after which as an attorney. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from Pennsylvania State University in 2003 and finished his law degree on the University of Pittsburgh School of Law in 2006. Those two strands — reporting and regulation — tell the way he approaches cases and client work.

His legal career began immediately following law school when he joined Babst, Calland, Clements & Zomnir, P.C. as an affiliate in 2006. He spent the early years of his practice developing litigation skills and studying the mechanics of company practice. In 2013 he moved to Bonya Gazza & DeGory, LLP as an affiliate and four years later used to be elevated to partner at that company. In 2020 Buell became a member of Haberl, Buell & Rice, PLLC, where he continues to practice.

Buell is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and West Virginia. He has been lively regionally as well; he holds club within the Indiana County Bar Association, the place his involvement dates from 2013 to the present. That nearby bar work has kept him related to the daily legal concerns of his region and to other practitioners within the region.

Colleagues describe his approach as simple. He draws on his background in journalism to invite actual questions and to form written work so it reads obviously. He favors direct, realistic solutions. In conferences he tends to put out alternatives plainly and to parse complicated cloth into discrete issues clients can act on.

Over time Buell has covered a selection of matters regular to regional firms. His document reflects steady movement through typical company roles: associate, then companion, and now member at a brand new company. That trail has exposed him to diverse firm cultures and business fashions. It has also given him repeated knowledge supervising junior attorneys and coordinating work across practice groups.

Clients and other attorneys encounter him as someone who balances thoroughness with a curiosity in resolving things efficiently. He handles filings, courtroom preparation and client counseling in cases that occur within the two states where he's licensed. He practices at Haberl, Buell & Rice, PLLC and concentrates his practice on things springing up in Pennsylvania and West Virginia.
