About Christopher
Christopher Abel trained at Baylor Law School, entering in 2001 and earning his J.D. in 2004. He moved into practice immediately following law school, taking an affiliate position at Evans, Gandy, Daniel, and Moore the same year. Those early years provided regimen courtroom work and an introduction to felony things that could form his later career.
In 2005 Abel took a role as a prosecutor on the Denton County District Lawyer's Office. The position placed him in every day touch with felony and misdemeanor dockets and required work on investigations, proceedings, and trial preparation. He left the prosecutor's office in 2007 to sign up for Powers & Shanklin as an affiliate, where he persisted to manage criminal protection and related litigation for numerous years.
Abel expanded his professional life beyond litigation when he started teaching. In 2009 he served as an adjunct professor at the University of North Texas, bringing practical courtroom experience into the classroom. That educational work ran alongside his private practice duties and signaled an interest in education others approximately court process and criminal law subjects.
In 2014 he based The Law Office of Christopher Abel and took at the role of principal lawyer. Around the identical time he assumed management in the nearby bar, serving as president of the Denton County Criminal Defense Lawyers Association. He is also a founding member of the DUI Defense Lawyers Association and a member in good standing of several national and state organizations, including the National College of DUI Defense, the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association. He has held membership in the Texas Bar College and maintains a lifetime affiliation together with his alma mater, Baylor University School of Law.
Abel's training includes specialised certifications relevant to impaired driving cases. He completed Forensic Breath Alcohol Testing Intoxilyzer 5000 Maintenance Technician training in 2013 through Jay Zager, Inc., and he's a Standardized Field Sobriety Testing Practitioner through Lance Platt and Associates. Those credentials help technical work on breath testing and field sobriety problems that arise in DUI defense.
Today Abel runs his company from Denton County and continues to manage felony defense matters, including cases involving impaired riding, trial legal proceedings, and motion practice. His practice combines courtroom experience, instructor-level training, and ongoing involvement in expert protection organizations.
