About Charles

Charles Cromwell constructed his academic basis at two well-known establishments. He earned a B.A. in American history from Harvard University and later returned to Montana to complete each a J.D. and a M.A. in Public Administration on the University of Montana. Those degrees gave him grounding in regulation and public policy and set the stage for a profession that spans state and federal practice.

After law school he obtained admission to practice in Montana and earlier than the Federal Circuit. He has maintained an active relationship with the Montana State Bar. His club in the bar’s Veterans Law Section dates to 2015, reflecting long-status professional interest in issues affecting veterans and veterans benefits law.

Cromwell’s ties to law school training run parallel to his practice. Since 2014 he has served on the University of Montana’s Clinical Board of Visitors. In that position he has labored with faculty and college students on the management and oversight of clinical programs. The role maintains him engaged with hands-on legal background and exposes him to rising questions in public and administrative law.

On the bench and in filings, Cromwell has dealt with appellate work and administrative appeals. His admission to the Federal Circuit positions him for cases that move beyond state tribunals. He handles matters that require awareness to statutory element and appellate procedure. Colleagues describe him as methodical in preparing briefs and deliberate in oral argument. That steadiness things in appeals, where outcome often activates nuance rather than spectacle.

Outside courtroom hours he remains related to expert networks in Montana. His exercise in the Veterans Law Section places him amongst attorneys who exchange practice strategies and updates on procedural advancements. His work at the college board keeps him associated to the next generation of attorneys and to practical education tasks that serve the network.

He currently practices in Montana, dealing with veterans benefits appeals and federal appellate matters.
