About Brian Joel
Brian Joel Aplin earned a Bachelor of Science in biology and chemistry from Mercer University in 2007, then returned to Mercer for law program, receiving his J.D. from the Walter F. George School of Law in 2017. He studied in Macon through both degrees, developing an analytical approach that reflects his science background. Those years formed his early strategy to evidence and court strategy.
He started working in a law company setting whilst still connected to Mercer’s legal network. In 2016 he labored as an associate at Buzzell, Graham & Welsh, LLP, gaining exposure to client counseling and the rhythms of legal proceedings practice. After law school, he joined the Georgia Public Defender’s Council as an assistant public defender in 2018. In that role he treated trial-degree felony things, studying the procedural and tactical requirements of courtroom work beneath pressure.
Later in 2018 he based THE APLIN FIRM, LLC and serves there as lawyer and principal. Founding a company modified the day-to-day. He moved from the institutional placing of a public defender workplace to managing instances, client intake, and the enterprise aspect of practice. That shift allowed him to combine courtroom experience with case control duties.
Aplin’s background in criminal defense is the maximum visible through his public defender work. He has experience making ready instances for trial, conducting hearings, and arguing motions in state judiciary. His science education informs how he evaluates proof and questions professional testimony. Colleagues describe him as methodical in litigation preparation and assertive when presenting a client’s role.
He continues to practice in Georgia courts, dealing with things that require legal proceedings experience and a knowing of criminal process. His practice blends court work with client counseling and the procedural control that keeps instances shifting. He is based at THE APLIN FIRM, LLC, the place he oversees the firm’s legal work and client services.
Aplin keeps an active practice in Georgia, representing clients in criminal instances and related legal proceedings in state courts.
