About Brett T
Brett T Burmeister followed a straightforward educational path into the regulation. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Finance and Economics from Providence College in 2003. He then attended the University of Missouri–Kansas City School of Law and finished his Juris Doctor in 2006. The combination of finance, economics and legal background shaped how he strategies disputes and legal strategy.
After law program he took the usual route into courtroom practice and bar admissions. He is certified to practice in Missouri and Kansas. He is likewise admitted to appear before the Eighth and Tenth U.S. Circuit Courts of Appeal. Those credentials have allowed him to manage things that move from state trial courts to federal appellate dockets.
His professional memberships mirror a practice tied to litigation. He has been a member of the Missouri Association of Trial Lawyers since 2008. That association brings together lawyers who manage civil disputes and trials throughout the state. Since 2013 he has served on the Board of Trustees of the UMKC Law Foundation, a role that connects him back to his law school and to law school training efforts there.
Colleagues describe him as pragmatic in court. He prepares for proceedings and depositions with thoroughness and keeps the court record in thoughts when crafting arguments. He has experience dealing with contested things that require both motion practice and oral advocacy. Over time he has developed familiarity with the procedures and expectancies of each state and federal judges in the region.
He keeps a workplace in the Truman Law Building. From there he manages case files, consults with clients, and appears in state courtrooms and federal venues as needed. The location keeps him near the nearby courts and to the law school the place he retains ties thru the UMKC Law Foundation.
Today he operates a personal practice centered on litigation. He advocates for clients in state and federal courts in Missouri and Kansas, which includes appeals before the Eighth and Tenth Circuits.
