About Bernard

Bernard Ilkhanoff started his academic trail with a double major in political science and Spanish at Frostburg State University. He moved on to Temple University Beasley School of Law, where he finished a J.D. and took coursework and realistic training in trial advocacy. Those formative years combined classroom study and court publicity and set the tone for his later work.

He entered the area of law as a legal assistant at Arent Fox LLP in 1987. That position preceded a string of summer positions that brought him into federal and company settings: a 1992 summer time internship with the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland and a 1993 summer associate role at Bethlehem Steel Corporation. In 1994 he served as an assistant metropolis solicitor in the City of Baltimore Department of Law. By 1999 he was indexed as president of Ilkhanoff & Silverstein, PC, marking a shift into company leadership.

Ilkhanoff is licensed to practice in Maryland and Pennsylvania. His club document indicates Maryland State Bar starting in 1995 and Pennsylvania State Bar beginning in 1998. He has remained active in bar and local institutions. He served in management at the York County Bar Association and is listed as its immediate past president beginning in 2017. He has been a delegate to the Pennsylvania Bar Association House of Delegates since 2016 and holds memberships in the Pennsylvania Association of Justice and the Pennsylvania Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers dating back to 2002.

Training in trial advocacy at Temple and the variety of early legal roles suggest a hands-on courtroom orientation. His involvement in each the Pennsylvania Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the Pennsylvania Association of Justice points to work that touches on felony defense and civil litigation. Over the years his practice document reflects courtroom appearances, client representation in contested matters, and ongoing participation in professional governance.

His work has been centered in south central Pennsylvania. He maintains workplaces in Shrewsbury and Lancaster, where he appears in state and federal boards as things require. Locally he has balanced casework with bar management, collaborating within the institutional side of the career while maintaining an active caseload.

He practices thru Ilkhanoff & Silverstein, PC, and maintains a litigation practice that serves clients in Pennsylvania and Maryland.
