About Benjamin Siracusa
Benjamin Siracusa Hillman built a legal path that began in lecture rooms and moved quickly into courtrooms. He earned a B.A. from Harvard University in 2003 and received his J.D. from Yale Law School in 2008. Those credentials opened doorways to federal clerkships and public curiosity work early in his professional life.
After law school, Hillman served as a law clerk for the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut in 2008. He spent the following year clerking at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. In 2010 he was named a William J. Brennan Fellow on the American Civil Liberties Union, a position that placed him in the center of civil freedoms legal proceedings and policy work. He joined Shaheen & Gordon, P.A. as an associate in 2011 and have become a companion there in 2016.
Hillman’s admissions mirror a mix of state and federal practice. He is admitted in New Hampshire, Massachusetts and New York, and he holds admissions in more than one federal venues, which includes the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York. He is likewise licensed to practice earlier than the first, ninth and 10th U.S. Courts of Appeals. That range of admissions allows him to manage matters in trial courts and on attraction.
His practice draws on each private and public curiosity experience. He handles confidence and estate matters, elder law issues and related litigation. He additionally brings knowledge from his ACLU fellowship to constitutional and civil liberties questions once they arise in his work. At Shaheen & Gordon, Hillman’s position has covered counseling families on property making plans, representing clients in estate administration and guardianship proceedings, and pursuing legal proceedings in state and federal courts. He has worked on appellate briefs and argued matters in higher courts as a part of cases that required multi-jurisdictional handling.
Outside the workplace, Hillman is a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estates Counsel and serves at the board of the American Civil Liberties Union of New Hampshire. He previously served at the forums of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and the New Hampshire Supreme Court Society. He has been a member of the New Hampshire Bar Association since 2012. He practices at Shaheen & Gordon, P.A., where his work focuses on trusts and estates, senior law and related litigation.
