About Andrew

Andrew Skinner began his educational path at the College of William and Mary, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in economics in 1988. He later returned to Texas for law program, receiving his J.D. from the University of Texas at Austin in 1996. Those two degrees set the stage for a career that has moved among giant countrywide firms and a smaller, community-rooted practice.

His early legal work covered a stint at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP beginning in 2000. There he practiced in the structures of a prime worldwide company, gaining knowledge in the demands of complicated litigation and giant-client representation. In 2003 he left that environment and joined Nichols & Skinner, LC, a smaller office the place he had more direct client touch and more responsibility for case management.

In 2008 he founded Skinner Law Office. The move brought him back to a more localized practice model. He based a Martinsburg department as well. Over the years the office has served clients across more than one states and maintained ties to the community through civic and professional organizations.

Skinner is certified to practice in Illinois, West Virginia and Virginia. He keeps membership within the American Association of Justice and serves at the Board of Governors for the West Virginia Association of Justice. Those roles put him in regular touch with trial lawyers and friends who handle contested litigation in state and federal courts. He additionally participates in local civic lifestyles. He sits on the Board of Directors of the Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce and is the founder and annual host of Leadership Jefferson, an initiative aimed toward community leadership and engagement.

Colleagues and network members describe his strategy as hands-on. He has moved between giant-company practice and small-workplace ownership, and that knowledge shapes how he runs his firm. That background informs staffing, client intake and the allocation of assets for litigation and client counseling.

He continues to practice from Skinner Law Office and its Martinsburg department. He handles things across the three jurisdictions where he's licensed and keeps active involvement in the expert institutions and network organizations that have been a part of his career because the early 2000s.
