About Andrew D.
Andrew D. Alpert has been a seen presence in Maryland and the District of Columbia legal communities for decades. He earned his J.D. from The George Washington University Law School in 1989 after finishing a B.A. at Franklin & Marshall College in 1986. His training put him at the intersection of court procedure and forensic evidence early in his professional life.
He began his public-service profession as an Assistant State's Lawyer in Charles County and later in Prince George's County, Maryland. Those years in county prosecutor offices gave him regular exposure to criminal instances of varying complexity. He handled prosecutions, labored with investigators, and gained realistic knowledge in how instances move from arrest to trial.
Alpert later moved into personal practice. He served as a companion at Meng & Alpert, LLC and is a partner at Alpert Schreyer, LLC. In private practice he has represented clients in felony matters, drawing on his prior prosecutorial knowledge to check proof and cross-examine witnesses. His court work displays a curiosity in technical and scientific issues that often occur in criminal prosecutions.
That curiosity in technical proof appears in his professional credentials. He holds Drug Recognition Expert (Advanced) certification from NHTSA/IACP and is certified as a NHTSA Standardized Field Sobriety Test Instructor. He is an U.S. Department of Transportation licensed technician for more than one Intoxilyzer models and has earned a Forensic Lawyer Scientist credential from ACS-CHAL. Those certifications tell how he approaches cases that contain impaired driving, toxicology, and other scientific topics.
His affiliation memberships underscore an extended-status engagement with felony-protection circles. He is a member of the National Trial Lawyers, the American Trial Lawyers Association, the American Bar Association, and the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Maryland Criminal Defense Lawyers Association and is indexed as the association’s Vice President. He is the Maryland State Representative for the National College for DUI Defense and chairs the Maryland Criminal Defense Lawyers Association’s Legislative Group on Narcotics. He also holds memberships in the Maryland Association for Justice, Prince George’s County Bar Association, the Maryland Trial Lawyers Association, the Maryland State Bar Association, the Society for Legal Advocates, and the DUI Defense Lawyers Association, which he helped discovered.
He brings courtroom experience, technical training, and organizational leadership to his practice. He currently practices at Alpert Schreyer, LLC, representing clients in felony matters, which includes DUI and narcotics-related instances.
